On October 18th, at Arcadia’s venue on Via XX Settembre 62B in Palermo, the first edition of “Board Game Afternoon” took place — an event organized by FICUS ETS in collaboration with Arcadia Fumetti, as part of the Erasmus Days initiative.
The aim of the event was to highlight board games as educational and relational tools that foster personal growth. More than just a pastime, playing together became an opportunity to meet, share experiences and develop essential skills naturally and enjoyably.
The participation was enthusiastic and diverse, with young people and adults, aged 15 and over, joining the afternoon eager to play and learn. Through board games, participants experienced collaboration, communication, and problem-solving, discovering how play can turn into experiential learning that stimulates critical thinking and teamwork.
The atmosphere was warm and engaging, reflecting the sense of community that grows through inclusive and meaningful activities. The collaboration with Arcadia proved invaluable, thanks to their welcoming space and expertise, which contributed to the overall success of the event.
Given the positive feedback and great participation, FICUS ETS and Arcadia have decided to continue the initiative with a monthly series of meetings focused on board games and soft skills development.
The next sessions will be held on Friday, November 22 and Friday, December 6, both starting at 3:00 p.m. at Arcadia, Via XX Settembre 62B, Palermo. Participation is limited and by reservation only, by emailing alessia.difrancesca@ficusets.org.
The “Let’s Play for Real” experience confirmed how play can become a space for growth, connection, and mutual discovery. For FICUS ETS, play is never just a game — it is a means to learn, build relationships, and promote both individual and collective well-being.
