On 28 May 2026, FICUS ETS participated in the fourth international webinar of the Erasmus+ STITCH project, entitled “Stitching the Future: AI and Digital Tools as Enablers of Sustainable Fashion”, hosted within the AI+ Conference in Norway.
The event brought together experts in innovation, education, sustainability, and the fashion industry to explore how Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies can contribute to a more sustainable, responsible, and circular textile sector.
As a partner of the STITCH project, FICUS ETS contributes to the development of innovative educational resources for European secondary schools, aiming to help students better understand the environmental challenges associated with the fashion industry while developing transversal competences through STEAM approaches and participatory learning methodologies.
Throughout the webinar, participants were introduced to several practical examples of Artificial Intelligence applications within the fashion sector. Discussions highlighted how emerging technologies can help reduce waste, improve resource management, optimise production processes, and support circular economy business models.
A particularly inspiring contribution was delivered by Einar Michaelsen, Founder of Circular AI, who presented real-world examples of AI applications in the second-hand clothing market. Through garment recognition systems and AI-assisted valuation processes, these solutions are helping businesses streamline operations while promoting the reuse of textile products and more sustainable consumption patterns.
Another key topic addressed during the webinar was the transfer of digital innovation into educational settings. Participants explored practical tools and resources that teachers and educators can use to make learning about sustainable fashion, circular economy principles, and digital citizenship more engaging and accessible.
For FICUS ETS, the webinar represented an important opportunity to further explore the connections between sustainability, education, and technological innovation. The knowledge and experiences shared during the event will contribute to the development of future STITCH activities, particularly in the creation of educational resources designed to prepare younger generations for both the green and digital transitions.
The STITCH project supports teachers, educators, and schools in developing innovative learning pathways focused on sustainable fashion while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and digital competences among students.
