Yesterday marked the official launch of “Un’Ora per Palermo” (One Hour for Palermo), a new associative network bringing together 45 third sector organisations active in the city of Palermo. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among social, cultural, sports and volunteer organisations working across the territory.
The network was established through a cooperation agreement promoted by FICUS ETS, the coordinating organisation of the initiative, together with numerous associations that decided to join forces by sharing expertise, experiences and resources in order to create new opportunities for the community.
The main objective of the network is to reinforce synergies among local organisations, encourage the exchange of knowledge and good practices, promote joint initiatives and stimulate broader civic participation. Through this collaboration, the participating associations aim to contribute to the social, cultural and community development of Palermo and the wider Sicilian territory.
During the launch event, the platform www.unoraperpalermo.it was also presented. The portal is designed as a digital space connecting citizens and associations, allowing people to discover activities promoted by the organisations within the network and encouraging them to dedicate one hour of their time to the city, by participating in social, cultural, sports and volunteering initiatives.
The event took place under the patronage of the Municipality of Palermo and was attended by Mayor Roberto Lagalla, Councillor Fabrizio Ferrandelli, and City Councillor Leonardo Canto, who joined this important moment of dialogue and cooperation between institutions and the third sector.
The creation of “Un’Ora per Palermo” represents a first step towards building a stable collaborative network among organisations, capable of developing shared initiatives and strengthening the role of civil society in the social development of the city.
The organisations involved in the network operate in several fields — including social support, culture, sport, education, inclusion and civic engagement — and contribute daily to building a more supportive, participatory and inclusive community in Palermo.
