The STITCH project – Sustainability through Innovation, Training, Creativity & STEAM Horizons (Project No. 2025-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000353351), co-funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH – Cooperation Partnerships programme of the European Commission, continues its journey with a first important milestone: the inaugural webinar is now available on the project’s official YouTube channel.
This first training event represents a significant step in the project’s development, offering teachers, trainers and youth workers a space for learning and exchange on innovative educational approaches capable of integrating sustainability, creativity and STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
The webinar, organised by the University of Palermo – Department of Physics and Chemistry “Emilio Segrè”, project coordinator, was designed as an introductory training module. During the session, the main objectives of the STITCH project were presented, along with initial methodological reflections on how to address sustainability challenges in the textile and fashion sector through education.
In particular, the webinar focused on integrating sustainability into lower secondary education, proposing an interdisciplinary approach based on the STEAM model. Through concrete examples, case studies and practical insights, it demonstrated how learning can become more engaging, experiential and meaningful for students, while fostering key transversal skills such as critical thinking, creativity and environmental awareness.
One of the key aspects highlighted was the need to move beyond traditional educational models, promoting instead participatory and inclusive methodologies that place learners at the centre. The use of digital tools, hands-on activities and creative approaches makes it possible to address complex topics such as sustainability in an accessible and stimulating way.
In this context, FICUS ETS, as a project partner, actively contributes to the promotion and dissemination of project results, supporting the development of innovative educational tools and fostering the engagement of educational communities at both local and international levels. FICUS’ involvement is part of a broader vision aimed at strengthening the role of non-formal education and interdisciplinary practices as key drivers for social and environmental change.
The webinar therefore represents not only a moment of sharing, but also a concrete resource for all those who wish to integrate sustainability into their educational contexts by adopting innovative and future-oriented approaches.
