On May 16, 2025, the official presentation of the “Domani Tu” ETS Foundation, promoted by Anffas Palermo, was held in the evocative setting of the Cinema De Seta at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo. The event, which saw a high level of participation, marked a significant moment for the Palermo community and the broader Third Sector. FICUS ETS was also present, actively supporting this important occasion of dialogue and planning.
The creation of the Foundation represents a natural and necessary evolution of the path that Anffas Palermo has been pursuing for over twenty years in the region. This path is centered on promoting the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. The new Foundation, born from the will of the association’s grassroots members, aims to strengthen efforts toward more inclusive and modern models, capable of responding effectively to the transformations introduced by the recent Third Sector reform.
The event offered an opportunity to reflect on the changes brought about by Legislative Decree 62/2024, which redefines the approach to supporting people with disabilities through the concept of the “individual life project”. This innovative approach places emphasis on the person’s abilities, desires, and social context.
Numerous speakers took the floor throughout the morning, including institutional representatives, sector experts, and leaders from the nonprofit world. The discussions addressed the legal, operational, and social aspects of the reform, highlighting both the challenges to be faced and the opportunities to be seized in creating truly inclusive pathways. Particularly moving were the personal testimonies from individuals with disabilities and their families, offering a heartfelt contribution to the collective reflection.
The participation of FICUS ETS served to emphasize the importance of synergy among local organizations and the need to strengthen collaborative networks among institutions, families, and nonprofit entities. FICUS ETS’s experience and participatory approach align perfectly with the vision promoted by the Domani Tu Foundation, which places the individual and their right to a fully self-determined life at the center.
This event was much more than just a presentation ceremony; it was a moment of unity, awareness, and renewed commitment that opens a new phase in the protection of rights and the promotion of social inclusion. The path initiated by Anffas Palermo—now also carried forward through the Domani Tu Foundation—represents a reference point for the entire community, with the aim of building a society that is truly fair, inclusive, and accessible to all.
