FICUS ETS is pleased to share the report “Best Practices in STEAM and Performing Arts Education: Mapping Report”, developed within the Erasmus+ project Dancing with STEAM. The document collects and analyses a range of international practices where performing arts and STEAM education intersect to create innovative, interdisciplinary, and inclusive learning experiences.
The report was produced as part of Activity 1 of the project, with the aim of identifying and analysing educational practices that combine dance, theatre, movement, and creative expression with STEAM disciplines — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The Dancing with STEAM project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ KA210 Youth programme, runs from December 2025 to May 2027 and aims to promote creative, interdisciplinary, and inclusive learning pathways for young people.
Through this mapping activity, the project partnership — including FICUS ETS as a partner organisation — explored several pedagogical approaches and educational initiatives showing how the integration of arts and science can strengthen student engagement and facilitate the understanding of complex scientific concepts.
The report is structured into four main sections: pedagogical approaches for STEAM education, methodologies integrating performing arts and scientific learning, institutional learning environments such as FabLabs and innovation hubs, and European projects promoting innovation in STEAM education.
These practices provide inspiration for educators, youth workers, and organisations interested in experimenting with new educational models that connect creativity, movement, and scientific thinking.
