How can sustainability become a concrete part of everyday school education? How can creativity and innovation help students better understand environmental challenges? These were some of the key reflections guiding the second Transnational Project Meeting of the STITCH – Sustainability Through Innovation, Training, Creativity & STEAM Horizons project (Project Number: 2025-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000353351), which took place on 4–5 May 2026 in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Spain.
During the two-day international meeting, FICUS ETS joined project partners from across Europe to continue developing innovative educational approaches that combine sustainability, STEAM disciplines and creative learning methodologies.
Hosted by Institut ITACA, the meeting represented an important moment of collaboration and strategic planning for the consortium. Partners exchanged experiences, methodologies and ideas on how schools can become more active spaces for environmental awareness, sustainable thinking and interdisciplinary learning.
One of the most significant sessions focused on the presentation of innovative case studies and best practices collected by each partner organisation at national level. The examples shared during the meeting highlighted how sustainability can move beyond theory and become part of practical educational experiences through creative projects, environmental initiatives and hands-on learning activities.
An important step forward was also made in the development of the STITCH Online Training Lab, coordinated by the University of Palermo. The platform is being designed as an interactive educational environment where teachers will access methodologies, resources and practical tools to introduce sustainability topics into classroom activities through STEAM-based approaches.
As dissemination leader of the project, FICUS ETS presented the communication and outreach activities implemented so far, together with the next dissemination strategies aimed at strengthening the project’s visibility and engagement at European level. The meeting also provided an opportunity to coordinate upcoming webinars and educational activities addressed to teachers and education professionals.
Beyond the technical discussions, the TPM also emphasised the importance of experiential learning. Participants took part in a workshop on natural dyes, exploring sustainable textile practices through experimentation and collaborative activities. The workshop reflected one of the core values of STITCH: learning sustainability through creativity, participation and direct experience.
The meeting concluded with plans for the next project activities and future international collaboration. The STITCH partners will meet again in October 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye, continuing their joint effort to promote more innovative, creative and sustainability-oriented education across Europe.
