STITCH Italian Pilot Gets Underway

How can sustainability, fashion and STEAM come together in the classroom? This is the question guiding the Italian pilot of STITCH – Sustainability Through Innovation, Training, Creativity & STEAM Horizons, now underway with the Istituto di Altavilla Milicia, an associated partner of FICUS ETS.

Ten teachers are taking part in this piloting phase. They are exploring the 14 STITCH training modules and the project’s resource hub, discovering materials that connect sustainability and fashion with creativity, practical learning and STEAM approaches.

The pilot gives teachers the opportunity to look closely at the resources, consider how they could be used with their classes, and share their professional perspectives. Discussion meetings encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences, while independent exploration allows participants to review the modules and the hub at their own pace. Their feedback will focus on the relevance and clarity of the content, the accessibility of the resources and their potential for classroom use.

This process is an important step in developing educational materials that respond to teachers’ needs and support meaningful learning. By listening to those who will use the resources in practice, the STITCH partnership can recognise what works well and where further improvements may be needed.

FICUS ETS warmly thanks the teachers of the Istituto di Altavilla Milicia for their time, curiosity and thoughtful contribution to the pilot. Their involvement is helping shape resources that can inspire students to explore sustainability, question everyday choices and imagine more responsible ways of designing and producing fashion.
