The recording of the sixth international STITCH webinar is now available. The session focused on a key question for sustainability education: how can young people turn environmental awareness into more responsible choices?
Titled “From Awareness to Action: Engaging Young People in the Circular Economy,” the webinar took place on 6 October 2026 and was hosted by STITCH’s Estonian partner, Tallinna Kesklinna Vene Gümnaasium. The speakers were Anne-Liisa Antsma, a teacher at the school, and Anneli Roodus, an environmental education specialist at the Tallinn Circular Economy Centre.
The webinar explored practical ways to introduce the circular economy to young people by connecting its principles with familiar experiences: how resources are used, the products we buy and what happens to items when they are no longer needed. This approach encourages young people to reflect on their habits, ask questions and understand how individual choices relate to wider environmental challenges.
The discussion brought together the perspectives of school education and environmental learning, highlighting the value of practical activities and cooperation. Giving young people opportunities to explore, discuss and experiment can nurture curiosity and critical thinking, while making sustainability a more engaging and hands-on learning experience.
The event was part of Work Package 2 (WP2) of STITCH – Sustainability Through Innovation, Training, Creativity and STEAM Horizons, an Erasmus+ project co-funded by the European Union, with FICUS ETS as a project partner. The international webinar series has reached around 300 teachers and other participants, supporting the exchange of ideas and approaches for bringing sustainability into education.
